Rehab Physio
Getting back to reality and resuming normal life after a life changing operation or accident can be daunting. Losing a loved one unexpectedly can also set you back and leave you feeling helpless or feel it’s impossible to get your own life back.
Since 2012, I have helped many individuals get back on track following the trauma of an accident, operation, major physical health issue, mental health issues, trauma of loss of a loved one.
The following are real life stories of how I have supported my clients reset after trauma. Through listening to my clients’ needs, I have devised essential and meaningful rehabilitation programmes, involving a variety of services I provide here at Michael J LifePurpose.
Case Study 1: Tracey, 52
Donna came to me after losing both legs following a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. Her dual limb loss devastated her life, and she required a double leg amputation due to poor blood supply to her lower limbs.
After initial hospital physio, Donna was determined to get fit and lose weight to avoid further complications. Together, we built a programme with twice-weekly gym sessions, twice-weekly home fitness, plus weekly massage to aid circulation and ease upper body pain from wheelchair use.
After 6 months, Donna lost weight, built strength, and adapted to life as a wheelchair user. She now maintains a healthier lifestyle and even supports others as part of a health board for amputees and diabetes patients.
Case Study 2: Duncan, 58
Duncan retired to his dream home in 2018. Shortly after moving, he suffered a heart attack and underwent a quadruple bypass. After months of recovery, he reached out for support in regaining his fitness to play football again.
We used yoga and breathwork to reduce anxiety, along with a progressive fitness plan to build confidence and stamina. Gradually, Duncan rebuilt trust in his body and was able to return to physical activity safely, feeling stronger each week.
Knee & Hip Replacement Therapy
I have supported many clients before and after knee or hip replacement surgery. Pre-surgery, therapy focuses on strengthening legs, hips, and back to ensure muscles are strong and flexible.
Post-surgery, massage therapy and low-level laser light therapy (LLLT) help reduce pain and improve mobility. Clients regularly report greater flexibility, confidence, and a quicker return to daily activities.
